Wondering what this change means on a house I am in contract on in New York State. Purchased a 2BR single family home that has a ‘bonus’ room that is walked into upstairs (house is 1.5 stories). The room does not have a door or full privacy as it is directly accessed by the stairs. I think every state is different, in NY this would officially be a Bedroom then? Will this make my taxes go up or the home value go up? Or is this Negligible?
