Newsflash: Negotiating a buyers agent fee

I am in the process of listing my home. I noticed that several of the homes in my neighborhood that are under contract or listed have a 2.5% buyers agent fee. My realtor strongly recommended against this and said that 3.0% buyers agent fee would sell better because agents are “more likely to steer prospective buyers away from properties with less than a 3.0% buyers agent fee”. When I was looking at properties, I couldn’t care less what that fee was. I did most of the legwork picking all properties in the neighborhood I wanted to see, regardless. Why is my agent giving me such a fuss about this?
