My agent sent me a new listing that is a really nice house in a nice location, but it unfortunately has two power poles along the side fence in the backyard, with two large guy wires stretching down diagonally from them to the center of the yard. There also are several more large vertical cables/guy wires that run straight into the ground along the length of the poles. Overhead wires then run straight across over the yard and also diagonally toward neighboring properties to the back and side. The guy wires are not only unsightly, but they also create an obstruction, basically cutting the backyard in half. Could these lines potentially be buried rather than left as-is? Or would that be cost-prohibitive or the utility services be unlikely to allow it to be done?
