I have a rather sticky situation here. I am looking to purchase a home in a small town in Maine which hasn’t adopted building codes. We are in the proposal stage where we have to list repairs for the home but due to the building codes not being well established there are several things that aren’t technically her responsibility to repair which could pose an issue with getting insured. i.e cable ropes for railings and a garage staircase without a firedoor that leads to the master bedroom.My question is does this list of repairs include an offer on the house? or just a summary of what we think needs to be addressed and she will pick and choose whats up to her to resolve.Thank you to anybody that replies the lawyer I hired has kind of sucked and its hard to find this out with everything going on with work and home etc.
