We are – hopefully – in the process of buying a home. Our appraisal initially came back extremely low, at 6% less than our accepted offer. We appealed it and now it’s about 4% below accepted offer. Interestingly, our sellers are dealing with a similar issue on the home they are buying. My mortgage broker dropped a hint that this isn’t as isolated as we’d think.Anyone else dealing with similar issues? I feel like the appraiser is artificially lowering real estate pricing. On the other hand, I worry that prices may be dropping soon (we’re also trying to sell a property, so this is relevant). Anyone else with similar experiences?
