Newsflash: Is it possible to put two offers on two houses at the same time? [CA, US]

I know it’s frowned upon by realtors, but is it possible to put two offers in on two houses simultaneously, then break contract on one if both are accepted even if both offers have no contingencies?I know you would lose your earnest money, but in this scenario you could bail before putting down the earnest money. Would the seller be inclined to sue to collect the earnest money, or just move on to the second best offer?
