I don’t know if this is the right sub, but I am in a bit of a panic right now. We are due to close on selling our house this Friday (4 days). Just found out today the appraiser changed his mind and lowered the appraisal. Is that even possible? Our realtor is working hard trying to figure out what is happening and why they would do this 4 days before closing. We already had the appraisal come back low originally. Both agents worked with the appraiser to get it up a few thousand. To the point where we could still sell, and be able to buy a new house. Now we find out its been lowered? If that’s the case we cannot sell and lose out on the new home we need.Has anyone seen this happen? I do not know what to do at this point.Edit: appraiser went to sign off on the price but there were notes from the underwriter saying it wasn’t worth that. Appraiser reviewed and agreed. Realtor sent over 16 comps for the appraiser to review. Appraisal had not seen them yet but said he would review them but doubted it would change anything.
