SO (37M) & I (39F) have been together nearly 6yrs. Talk of buying a house has been going on for years & this year seems to be it, due to unexpected funds. My credit is very good, his not as much so the mortgage would be under my name. The property would be under both our names.Initially the plan was to get married this summer (County Court), now he’s suggesting waiting until next year so he can do a proper proposal & maybe have a better ceremony, yet still proceed with getting a house this year. Our “future” lender isn’t as communicative as he was a few months ago, so I turn to Reddit: what are the pros & cons for an unwed couple to buying a house with both our names on the deed, but just my name on the mortgage?I want to make sure both of us are covered~ just in case, you know?
